Dialogue du vent et de la mer
The north coast of Moloka'i is one of the most magical places I've ever been privileged to visit. The November morning when I created this shot was moody with clouds to the east partially blocking the sunrise but at the same time lending a good bit of character and color to the scene.
The title of this piece comes from the third movement in Claude Debussy's tone poem, La Mer (The Sea) and translates to "Dialogue of the wind and the waves." La Mer holds a special place in my heart as dissection and analysis of this work was one of my first tasks, shared with two other new graduate students, as I began my Master's degree in music history and literature.
