Capture The Wind
This is probably the most complex image I’ve ever created, combining 33 separate images of a single gull’s descending flight path and layering that against a fractal, generated from the flattened photograph of the gull’s descent.
I made the original capture on an iPhone 5s, choosing that over my big cameras simply because of the higher frame rate possible. I performed the post-processing integration and layering in Photoshop and then re-exported the image to my iPad, where I created the fractal. The high-resolution fractal was then reintegrated with the layered gull image to achieve the desired effect. The impetus for the creation of the image was a faculty recital at Wichita State University for which I’d been asked to provide photography to complement and expand upon the music. The intent of this piece was to represent the Wind as a primal element.
