My first trip to Italy was as a graduate student and I was particularly taken by Florence, vowing to some day return. That opportunity came in 2005 when my wife started spending each June in Florence teaching opera students through a program at Wichita State University and I began scheduling my vacation so I could spend at least part of the month there as well. In 2007 I participated in a photographer's tour led by my teacher Nancy Rotenberg and subsequently I led my own tour. The province of Tuscany is justly famous for, not only its wines, but for its landscapes and soft, gentle light. Tuscany remains one of my favorite places in the world to photograph.
