On my second morning in Greve in Chianti the sound of heavy rain kept me in bed, thankful for the first excuse in 2½ weeks of photography to sleep in. During breakfast at the hotel the rain lessened and I decided that I could work in the courtyard, keeping camera gear covered. Perhaps as a reward for determination, the rain stopped altogether not long after I’d begun work and I invested a couple of hours shooting the rain-drenched plants. I was most interested in the hanging drops and their seeming ability to capture within them the entire world without.
