Visions Of Tuscany

Crete Senesi

View Toward San Biagio
Montepulciano
May 25, 2007, 7:11 am

I might as well consider titling this shot, the joys of shooting an ultra-wide – this image was created at 14mm with a 10mm-17mm lens, hence the curvature apparent on the leftmost buildings. The Valley of the Torbida opens up before us in this early morning shot from the Piazza San Francesco in Montepulciano. The domed building in the middle ground is the Tempio San Biagio, a church built between 1518 and 1545 by the Renaissance architect Antonio di Sangallo. In the distance lies Monte Amiata, the highest peak in Tuscany.
