The night I shot this was the third evening we’d been
out working sunsets along the Arno. Three of us had started
on the Ponte Santa Trinita but quickly realized that the light
we wanted would be two bridges up-river, shooting from the
Ponte Alle Grazie. Sunset was just a few minutes away and
so we ran the half mile, tripod-mounted cameras over our shoulders,
through the city streets to reach a point where we could place
the Ponte Vecchio into the color-drenched sky. The effort
was worthwhile, for we got the best shots that evening, spending
more than an hour on the Ponte Alle Grazie as the sky darkened
and the city lights came on. I created this particular shot
about 35 after sunset. |
