SINGULAR CONNECTIONS: THE GALÁPAGOS ISLANDS

John Ellert Photography

Grace

The remarkably beautiful tropicbird seems to sum up the Galápagos – exotic, wonderful, approachable. This image as well as the next were created at our first stop. The tropicbird nests on the west side of Plaza Sur where there are cliffs dropping straight to the sea. They also nest on Daphné, Seymour, Rábida, Sombrero Chino, Tortuga, Genovesa, and Española (Punta Suárez). The last two named islands, along with Plaza Sur offer the best viewing opportunities because the visitor trails skirt the cliffs at these locations.
