SINGULAR CONNECTIONS: THE GALÁPAGOS ISLANDS

John Ellert Photography

Marine Iguana

Although I’ve not previously photographed many reptiles, these unique lizards exerted a strange pull on me. This male, in breeding color, had just crawled out of the ocean arrayed himself on the rocks at the far end of the beach like some royal patriarch. The Gardner Bay marine iguanas are reputed to be among the most colorful, and observing this handsome fellow is all the proof I needed.
