SLIDE SHOWS BY JOHN ELLERTIf your group would like to program one or more of John’s slide/music programs, please contact me at 316-641-6158 or E-mail John Ellert using imagesmith at johnellert.com. Fees for the programs range from free to $1000, depending on the nature of the group and location, plus mileage (for programs presented outside of Wichita) and other expenses. Programs can be presented singly or combined to fit whatever time frame you have in mind, from fifteen minutes to an hour. I can present to virtually any size group. The presentation hall is important to the success of these programs. If the program is to be during the day, then a room WITHOUT ANY windows is highly desirable- curtains or blinds are almost always insufficient to totally darken the room. If you have a large projection screen already in the room I will use that - the bigger, the better. If no screen is available, I will bring a 6' x 6' screen. All other equipment is provided, including a multiple-projector dissolve set up and stereo system. It takes a minimum of 30 minutes to set this equipment up and test, and this must be done before any guests arrive, so the room needs to be available at least a half hour, preferably 45 minutes, early. Most of the programs are color slide shows put to music, with one image dissolving into the next; some include narration. The shows are introduced with 5 - 10 minutes of information, with a question and answer session afterward. A single program normally lasts 20 - 30 minutes. Combinations of shorter slide shows can be combined for longer programs, up to an hour. There is no additional cost for this. Discussion can be on a wide range of subjects, including nature photography, wilderness and habitat preservation, and wildlife.

• Images Oiseaux. All manner of birds populate this 14 minute show set against three well-known and hauntingly beautiful classical vocalizes, songs without words, perhaps the closest to birdsong that the human voice can achieve. This remains one of my most popular shows. The photography comes from locations across North America. | ||

• Wildcats! In this general show about big and small wildcats you will see some familiar big cats as well as get introduced to some of the lesser-known small cats such as Pallas’ Cat, the ocelot, and the fishing cat. The cats were photographed in the wild in Africa as well as at zoos and game reserves in the United States. This show is narrated against native music indigenous to the regions where each group of cats is found and concludes with a plea for preservation of the cat’s habitat, lest they become extinct in the wild. 24 minutes.

• Moving Beyond the Documentary Photograph.
approximately 30 minutes Almost all artists whatever their medium start out endeavoring to capture the world about them more or less how they perceive it, striving to capture every detail. Only when those techniques are mastered do some seek to move beyond documentary expression into art that expresses what they feel with their heart and soul rather than what they merely see with their eyes. This slide/lecture presentation details some of my personal growth as I've moved away from the strictly representational. Although the examples are photographic, the process applies to virtually every other artistic endeavor and art students in all areas will find thought-provoking discussion. I can extend this presentation to a 50 minute class period through the inclusion of an extended question/answer session or by ending with one of my shorter slide/dissolve shows, Images Oiseaux or Front Range Winter. |

| • The Web Of Creativity:Thoughts on Creative
Process and Photography about 40 minutes In slide-lecture format, this program is an exploration of how I as a photographer go about the process of moving from blank mind and blank film to imagery that invokes a response from the viewer. Ideal for arts-oriented groups, camera clubs, or any other organization interested in the creation of art through photographic medium. This program can stand alone or serve as the starting point for further discussion of the creative process. Click here for the text of this program in essay form. |
