Brown Boobies over the Bay

Brown Boobies
Nikkor 24-120mm f/3.5-5.6, Raw capture
Bay of Banderas
December 27, 2006
Three of the four species of boobies occupy the Bay of Banderas for at least part of the year. Blue-foots (Sula sula) reside here year-around, while masked (S. dactylatra) and brown (S. leucogaster) boobies frequent the bay less often. While I was there, the brown boobies were the most numerous, but there were plenty of blue-foots as well. I saw only two masked boobies while I was there this trip. These two browns were among many shadowing our fishing boat, hoping to share in the catch.
