I had gone that day with a friend to photograph in the Flint
Hills and one of my goals was to do macro shots of wildflowers
in an area I’d scouted previously. Wind had other plans
for me and the flowers would simply not stay still long enough
to get a sharp image. I was growing very frustrated but then
Spirit got my attention and asked me to rethink what I was
trying to do. With that in mind I changed my direction and
started photographing Wind as expressed in the movement of
the flowers, whose movement now became my ally. I was not
keeping field notes that day and so I have no clear idea of
who many exposures actually went into this image, the only
really successful one to come out of several hours work. No
matter, this one image made the entire trip worthwhile. |
