There are hundreds of waterfalls in Oregon and this brief sampling can not possibly do them collectively, or individually, justice. Though intrinsically interesting, for me they are part of a larger milieu, that being the Pacific Coastal Forests which I have been photographing for a number of years. Given the large annual rainfalls needed to sustain these magnificent forests, it comes as no surprise to find myriad waterfalls as part and parcel of the environment, as much as the banana slug. I am sure that most, my friend Michael Lustbader aside, would find waterfalls far more interesting than invertebrates of the forest floor, so I give you two sets of images, this first dedicated to those few waterfalls which I have been privileged to visit in Oregon. |
